First on MNP: Atom Araullo leaving ABS-CBN to join GMA-7
The move represents a homecoming for Araullo, who prior to becoming a household name at ABS-CBN hosted the now-defunct ’24 Oras’ segment ‘ATOMic Sports.’
As reported by ABS-CBN News Online, longtime Kapamilya host Atom Araullo is leaving the network.
In a statement released by ABS-CBN, Araullo said, “Working with ABS-CBN for over a decade has been an amazing adventure. However, the time has come to explore emerging opportunities and challenges beyond the organization.”
“Although I am taking a new path, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the company that helped me become the journalist I am today,” he added.
Araullo has been a talent for ABS-CBN for more than a decade. Aside from co-hosting its morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda, he has also head up programs such as Red Alert and Hiwaga. He has also written and hosted documentaries for ANC, including the award-winning Warmer, which took home a bronze medal and a UNDPI silver award at the 2017 New York Festivals “World’s Best TV and Films” competition.
GMA-7 has yet to release an official statement about his move to the Kapuso Network and the exact terms of his contract are not yet known, but sources are telling us that Araullo will do projects for its award-winning public affairs division.
The move represents a homecoming for Araullo, who prior to becoming a household name at ABS-CBN hosted the now-defunct 24 Oras segment ATOMic Sports.
