Robredo on meeting with Marcos: ‘It’s about respecting the office’

Former Vice President Leni Robredo described her recent encounter with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as an act of respect for the office.

In an exclusive interview with DZRH, Robredo said she had no problem welcoming Marcos to Bicol.

“Sakin kasi hindi naman issue ‘yun. In fact, para sakin, ‘yung nagbibigay respeto ka sa posisyon,” Robredo said. “So walang pag-aatubili ‘yung pag-oo ko kay Senator Chiz kung pwedeng sumama ako sa kanya sa pagsalubong. Ang tingin ko tama rin lang naman kasi bisita natin sa Bicol region.”

This brief interaction, which took place during the inauguration of the Sorsogon Sports Arena on Thursday, marked the first public meeting between Robredo and Marcos since the 2022 elections, in which they faced off as presidential candidates.

Other political figures, including Senate candidates Bam Aquino, Camille Villar, and Tito Sotto, were also present at the event.

Marcos on Friday said he feels very happy about their encounter, which he describes as a “political reconciliation.”
