Philippine STAR’s Pang Masa reported on Thursday that soon-to-be former TV5 news chief, Luchi Cruz-Valdes, is returning to GMA-7, where she will allegedly become the head of GMA Integrated News.
The story, written by Ed de Leon, also claims that the veteran journalist will be co-anchoring a public affairs show at the Kapuso Network, alongside Martin Andanar, who, according to the report, will return to Philippine TV.
“Ang dinig namin noon, hanggang sa susunod na taon pa siya, pero hanggang katapusan na lang daw ng buwan. Pero hindi naman pala siya magre-retire kundi lilipat lang siya sa GMA 7,” the story reads. “Siya yata ang mamamahala ng GMA Integrated News, at magiging co-anchor ni Martin Andanar sa isang public affairs show.”
Media Newser Philippines reached out to the network for clarification regarding the story. One source, who asked not to be identified, called it “fake news,” stating that the management is pleased with the direction the news division is taking under Oliver Victor Amoroso, who was appointed senior vice president and head last year.
Additionally, several sources confirmed that there is no truth to the claim that Andanar, currently an anchor at China Global Television Network, is returning to GMA-7.
This online publication reported on Tuesday that Cruz-Valdes will be stepping down as TV5 news chief by the end of this month after 14 years in the role.
