Isko Moreno confirms mayoral bid on BNC’s ‘Agenda’
Explaining his decision to run again, Moreno said reports about Manila’s worsening situation have pushed him to make a bid for a political comeback.

After months of dropping hints, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has officially announced his intention to run in next year’s midterm elections.
Speaking on Bilyonaryo News Channel’s Agenda, Moreno made the confirmation, saying, “Tomorrow, our group will file our candidacy for the mayorship, with my vice mayor, Chichi Atienza.”
With this development, the mayoral race in Manila is now a three-way contest between Moreno, businessman Sam Verzosa, and incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna.
Explaining his decision to run again, Moreno said reports about Manila’s worsening situation have pushed him to make a bid for a political comeback, saying it “triggers a concern.”
“Nag-ikot ako sa mga bara-barangay, sa community, and people are saying, ‘Bumalik ka na, bumalik ka na.’ Syempre nagwo-worry ako bakit naghahanap ang tao ng iba, meron namang nakaupo, especially ‘yung nakaupo is somebody na tinulungan natin, na inaruga natin for so long. And then, nakakahiya mang sabihin, maraming na-frustrate sa sitwasyon,” he said.
In an interview with One PH’s Sa Totoo Lang last week, Lacuna expressed feeling betrayed by Moreno’s decision to run again, noting that he had previously said he was retiring from public office.
“Ako naman, iniisip ko, sige, hayaan na lang natin ‘yung taumbayan ang magdesisyon kung totoong talaga ‘yung panawagan na tayo’y bumalik. I’ll let the people of Manila decide on the matter,” Moreno responded.
Moreno is running under the late Raul Roco’s Aksyon Demokratiko party.
