Alvin Elchico is getting his weekends back, announcing his departure from TV Patrol Weekend as he moves to the weekday edition of the ABS-CBN newscast beginning Monday, September 2.

Elchico, now 50, shared the news Sunday during the broadcast, which he co-anchored with his longtime TV partner, Zen Hernandez.

Elchico’s reassignment comes after veteran journalist Henry Omaga-Diaz stepped down from his anchor post at TV Patrol on Friday.

Elchico, also a regular at Radyo 630, started his TVP Weekend duties in 2011, initially co-anchoring it with former ABS-CBN newser Pinky Webb, and then with Zen Hernandez since 2016.

Prior to his assignment in ABS-CBN Manila, Elchico worked as a news anchor and reporter for TV Patrol Bacolod from 1996 until 2000.
