GTV’s ‘Balita Ko’ switches back to ‘Balitanghali’
Going forward, the newscast will continue with the anchor team of Raffy Tima and Connie Sison.
With no fanfare, GMA Integrated News quietly reverted the title of GTV’s daytime newscast from Balita Ko back to Balitanghali last month. The shift, unexpected by many, occurred just two months after the rebranding.
Ratings for Balita Ko, as per AGB Nielsen, remained almost, if not, the same as Balitanghali, but it fell short of its intended goal of adding more viewers to the almost two-decade-old program. The situation was also not helped by viewers’ apparent disapproval of the name and format changes.
buti naman binalik niyo ulit sa #Balitanghali, mejo waley kasi yung Balita Ko..

Ni-rebrand na pala nila ang Balitanghali to Balita Ko and I don't like the sound of it. Lol!

Ang laking downgrade ng bagong theme music ng Balita Ko no? Tunog video game eh.

Mas bet ko pa yung five-note theme music noong Balitanghali era.
Ang annoying nung "Balita Ko" sa totoo lang. 10mins in, nakakaumay na agad. Balitanghali was good. They should've just put in new segments.

Sino nakaisip tawagin ang viewers na 'ka-balita'? Parang trying hard yt channels lang ah @gmanews
Moving forward, Balitanghali will maintain the same original anchor team consisting of Raffy Tima and Connie Sison, along with segment anchors Aubrey Carampel and Katrina Son.
Returning to Balitanghali is a logical decision, considering it has been a familiar daytime fixture for many dedicated Kapuso viewers since 2005. Alongside this shift, the old theme music and logos have made a return, albeit with updates.
When Balita Ko took over in September, GMA Integrated News was aiming for a more infotainment-oriented approach, intending to expand its viewership not only by delivering breaking news and updates, but also by presenting light segments, which they believe appeal to their core viewers. As it turned out, they actually prefer a more traditional newscast in daytime TV.
