First on MNP: GMA-7 cancels its ‘Hamon ng Bise’ debate
This would have been the last debate of this 2016 election cycle.
GMA-7 is canceling what would have been the last debate of this 2016 election cycle as three of the six vice presidential candidates have begged off.
“Out of the six candidates, campaign teams pa lang nila Leni Robredo, Allan Peter Cayetano, and Antonio Trillanes ang nakapagcommit,” says an insider who spoke to us on condition of anonymity. “Hindi na siya magiging debate kung kalahati lang ang lalabas kaya shelved na ang debate.”
GMA-7 has yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter, but another source has confirmed to us that the debate has indeed been canceled.
As announced over the weekend, the “Hamon ng Bise: The GMA Vice Presidential Debate” was originally scheduled for a live airing on May 1st — just a week away from the general elections.
This would’ve been the second debate to be hosted by the Kapuso Network following the first PiliPinas presidential debate aired in February.
