Lino Cayetano appointed as general manager of PTV4

Filmmaker and ex-politician Lino Cayetano has been appointed general manager of state-run People’s Television Network (PTV), Malacañang announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed his appointment.

“Former Mayor Cayetano brings with him a rare wealth of experience from the media, private, and public sectors that would certainly take PTV4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multimedia landscape,” Gomez said.

News of Cayetano’s appointment was first reported by Abante on Tuesday. Citing an unnamed source, the report said he would assume the post currently held by Malou Choa Fagar, who has served as PTV general manager since August 2025.

Cayetano is no stranger to television. Early in his career, he worked as a director and creative consultant for ABS-CBN and GMA-7. His television credits include the reality talent competition StarStruck and drama series such as Noah, Angel na Walang Langit, Ipaglaban Mo!, and Asintado.

In film, he directed the Star Cinema romantic comedy I’ve Fallen for You and the 2005 thriller Salvageland, which he also produced through his production company REIN Entertainment.

Now 47, Cayetano also had a career in public service. He served as a member of the House of Representatives during the 13th Congress before becoming mayor of Taguig from 2019 to 2022.
