Pia Hontiveros returns to Ateneo to teach Broadcast Journalism
Hontiveros will lead the said course, which “deals with the theory and practice of broadcast journalism and its roles and functions in a developing country.”
Pia Hontiveros, one of Ateneo de Manila University’s most recognizable alumni, is returning to her alma mater as a faculty member. The renowned news anchor and reporter, who previously worked at CNN Philippines, will teach Broadcast Journalism, as announced Friday.
An Ateneo graduate from the class of 1989, Hontiveros will lead the said course, which “deals with the theory and practice of broadcast journalism and its roles and functions in a developing country.”
According to Ateneo’s Instagram account, Hontiveros will teach students information gathering, effective writing, professional presentation, the relationships between news and information gathering, program production, and critical issues and current trends in the news industry.
Hontiveros was last seen on TV at the now-defunct CNN Philippines, where she spent nine years as chief anchor and correspondent. During her time at the station, she headlined programs such as News Night, Politics As Usual, Global Newsroom and Front & Center, while leading its coverage of major news events and high-profile interviews with political newsmakers.
Before the CNN Philippines rebranding in 2015, Hontiveros spent three years at 9TV and Solar News, and prior to that, she worked at ABS-CBN News for more than a decade, where she earned her reputation as a top-notch political interviewer on Strictly Politics.
