Former Kapuso reporter Tricia Zafra is the newest member of the CNN Philippines family. Her first day was yesterday, November 4.

In a blog entry on SubSelfie Monday, Zafra announced that she had accepted a new job — working behind the scenes as an executive producer for the local CNN station.

“I am excited and looking forward to deepen my experience as a communications professional by taking on this responsibility,” she wrote.

Specifically, we have learned that the former GMA News reporter is now the showrunner of the morning edition of Newsroom, anchored by Ria Tanjuatco-Trillo.

Additionally, she will also executive produce Newsroom Ngayon, anchored by another GMA News turned CNN Philippines talent, Ruth Cabal.

Zafra left GMA News earlier this year to embark on “another meaningful journey as a humanitarian worker” for the international, independent, medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders.

At the time she said that she had found a place “where my background in Broadcast Journalism and Psychology is appreciated and supported,” writing in a blog post: “I left because I had other dreams. I needed to give in to growth that was inevitable. And life is too short for ill-fitting jammies, uncomfortable sheets, and for settling with high school and college dreams that were already fulfilled.”

Prior to leaving GMA News, which had been her home for more than a decade, Zafra worked at RPN 9.
