Richard Heydarian joins Cignal TV’s One News
The former ABS-CBN News and GMA News analyst will be hosting a new talk-commentary program called ‘The View from Manila.’
First on MNP: After stints at both ABS-CBN News and GMA News, political analyst Richard Heydarian has found a new television home.
Heydarian, who is also an op-ed columnist for the Inquirer, has officially been recruited by Cignal TV’s One News as host of its upcoming talk-commentary program, The View from Manila.
As per our sources, the new program, which will air weekly on the Cignal news channel, will focus on geopolitical issues, with interviews with key figures from the diplomatic and political spheres.
Set to appear in its first few installments are former defense chiefs Delfin Lorenzana and Gilbert Teodoro.
Known for his expertise on foreign policy and domestic politics, Heydarian will also offer insights and analysis on The View from Manila.
Heydarian is no stranger to TV, having been an analyst for the ABS-CBN News Channel from 2016 to 2017. A year later, he would join GMA News and Public Affairs as an in-house analyst, and later as co-host of Stand For Truth, alongside Atom Araullo and Joyce Pring.
“I like GMA because medyo nacha-challenge ako dahil kailangan ko mag-Tagalog. So in a way I saw that it will help me na ma-fine tune ‘yung analysis ko in a way na mag-appeal to a broader audience,” he said during an interview in 2019.
As a Kapuso, he also headlined FYI, an online program where he got to interview the likes of former House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and former DFA Secretary Albert del Rosario, among others.
Aside from his television work, Heydarian has also written books, one of which is about former President Rodrigo Duterte called “The Rise of Duterte: A Populist Revolt Against Elite Democracy.”
