Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said this is the first all-female anchor team in Philippine TV. It is not. Solar Nightly News did it first 9 years ago, with the anchor duo of Mitzi Borromeo and Hillary Isaac.

One News is recalibrating its flagship evening newscast once again with the introduction of a new all-female anchor team.

Beginning April 10, One News business editor Regina Lay and newsreader Shawn Yao will take over as co-anchors of The Big Story, joining Gretchen Ho, the lone holdover from its previous incarnation.

Out from broadcast is its original anchor, Roby Alampay, who will have a new assignment at the Cignal news channel, said to be a weekly talk/panel program.

The move to relaunch The Big Story is just one of the many changes at One News this second quarter of 2023. Aside from this, it is also looking to launch a series of new programs to be aired in the late-night slot, one of which will be the comeback vehicle of a big name news personality.

The Big Story was first launched in 2016 as one of the offerings of the now-defunct Bloomberg TV Philippines. It continued to run when the channel was rebranded as One News in 2018 — with Alampay remaining as the solo anchor — and was expanded into a half-hour broadcast.

Since 2021, Ho, a former Kapamilya, has been serving as its co-anchor.
